Day One- August 10th, 2018

Updated: Mar 22, 2019

Welcome all to the Kait Clarke Creative blog!

As I sit here with a warm cup of coffee in hand and write this, it's the wee hours of launch day- August 10th, 2018. This day has long been anticipated, and a sense of nervous excitement has been buzzing inside me since yesterday. I wanted to take the time today to document this first "official" day in business and share how I'm feeling, as well as what you'll see here on the blog.

First things first- the blog.

I'm a creator by nature, if that wasn't already clear! I love sharing stories in authentic ways, and I look forward to sharing a little slice of my own with you all. Of course, I'll be documenting studio work and ongoing projects in "The Studio" section. Expect to see a look behind-the-scenes of what all goes into my branding process, insights for other designers & photographers, and highlighting the businesses & entrepreneurs I'll be working with.

Fun fact- when my little family found out we were moving to Florida, we had our pick of just about anywhere to live. I wanted to find a place that had a close knit creative community to launch this business in, and St Petersburg seemed like the best spot for that.

The next day, I read an article in Garden & Gun naming St Petersburg one of the five surprising food cities in the South. We decided that day on St Pete. My second passion in life, and a major fuel for what I do, is local food scenes. They drive incredible culture, bring communities together to gather in such a pure way, and I'm just completely obsessed with them.

So... I'll be documenting my foodie adventures tasting the city in the "Local Flavor" area. Get ready for some noms, y'all.

Finally, I'll be sharing an array of different topics in the "Life" section. For a young twenty-something, I've lived a pretty out of the ordinary life at times, and along the way gained some interesting perspective to share with y'all. When not focusing on my business, you can probably find me cooking something (probably Italian), playing with my *adorable* Aussie pup, making a house a "home", or exploring in & around St Pete. There will surely be a splash of all that here. To be perfectly honest, I'm not entirely sure what I'll focus on here just yet, but I know I have some good stuff to share with y'all, so stay tuned! Like all good things, it will evolve naturally.

This morning, I wrote in my Five Minute Journal...

Three things I'm grateful for:

1. The opportunity that has led me to launch my business today

2. A partner that will stay up late to edit copy and final touches with me- his support is immeasurable

3. Every road bump, every misstep in my path, and every learning lesson along this journey

Three things that would make today great:

1. LAUNCH THIS BUSINESS!!! (you got this!)

2. Share my hard work with friends & family

3. Celebrate! Pop some champagne with favorite things- my honey & my pup

Daily Affirmation- I am...

damn proud of myself for not letting fear hold me back from this dream. It may feel like jumping out of a plane some days, but the reward is so sweet.

Today, I feel the utmost gratitude to have the opportunity to make a dream of mine for years become a reality. It's been a long road, and I can't even begin to talk about all the road bumps I've hit along the way, but ultimately they all led me to where I am right now- and that's my silver lining. Without the support of a handful of close family and friends on this journey, I'm sure I'd be back in an office right now doing a mundane job that wasn't fulfilling me or challenging me. You all know who you are- thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'm so excited to finally share this journey with y'all and for all the opportunities on my horizon. Cheers!
